Sweet Melissa Sundays

If you want to add the Sweet Melissa Sundays avatar to your blog, here are the instructions (which were taken from the Tuesdays with Dorie site) since I am no techno person (this site was a big challenge – thank you Jesse Kocher).

WordPress Instructions

Choose the code under the image you want to put in your blog.

Go to your dashboard and click on design

Select Widgets

Add a Text Widget

Paste the code in the text Widget and move your text widget to the order you want it to appear on your sidebar

Save and you’re done

Blogger Instructions

Blogger can be a little trickier because sometimes it likes to add extra quotes. If it adds extra quotes, just monkey around with the quotes around the end of the url until you can convince blogger that you’re doing the right thing.

Go to the layout section

Click add a page element on the top of the right column

Then find the element called “HTML/Javascript” and add it to your blog

Put the code in, save and you’re done

Yup, Blogger is acting up with this code. I’ve tried messing around with the quotes but it’s still being a giant brat. I will keep messing around with it though because the avatar is just too cute!!

The avatar is super cute. The code is working on my site but the image is a bit too big (it’s getting cut off on my sidebar). Does anyone know how I can re-size the image?

I updated the page that has code for a smaller image – try it – I am no technie, but I think it should work.

Wow, 4 and a half months later I just realized I’d never fixed my avatar. Thanks so much for the updated code for the smaller image! It worked perfectly on my site :)

I think I have to fix that for you. And I think I can figure that out and will do that this afternoon. Thanks for the feedback.

Mine isn’t working correctly… it has the link, but not the photo and it “sort of” takes you to the link, but with an error.

I’m actually having the same problem as Laurel. It links back to the SMS website, but gives an error message.

Jen and Laurel, how did you fix that problem? I am having it now and no one has given me a solution. Please help.
Thanks ,
Chaya

Chaya, I never got it fixed. I tried to play around with it a bit (and did again just now) with no luck. Does anyone else use WordPress and was able to get it to work?

Hi everyone! I am new to Sweet Melissa Sundays, but I figured out how to post the avatar in Blogger, if anyone still needs help. It took me a while to figure it out, but if you go to “add a gadget” and click on it, there is an option “HTML/Java script”. Click that option and put the code in there. Hth!

I am the culinary manager for a chef portal that is sharing information and recipes form professionals to students. Our site is free for all professionals to join. As I travel to culinary schools around the US, I often get information and links from my students. One of them suggested your site.

I am very impressed by the content and design of you site, so I am forwarding an invitation to discuss some of the following ideas:

Collaboration on recipes to my global community
Linking our community to expand both.
Quotes to drive new original content for my site
A place to send my community for webinars and podcasts, especially for baking pastry.

If you are interested in speaking, please contact me in the US office or by email. Thank you.
